1. Key Ingredients 101
What is the Overnight Recovery Complex Oil?
A luxurious overnight facial oil created to nourish and condition the skin while you sleep, helping it feel softer, smoother, supple and beautifully replenished by morning.
What makes it different from an ordinary facial oil?
It’s not simply an oil for adding richness to the skin. The formula combines Bakuchiol, Squalane, Hyaluronic Acid and a beautiful blend of botanical oils, including Argan, Camellia, Blackcurrant, Jojoba and Baobab.
What is Bakuchiol?
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived skincare ingredient loved for helping improve the appearance of skin texture and smoothness. It’s often chosen as a gentler plant-derived alternative to retinol.
Is Bakuchiol the same as retinol?
No. Bakuchiol is not retinol, Vitamin A or a retinoid. They are different ingredients, although Bakuchiol is used in skincare for some similar visible skin concerns.
Is Bakuchiol “natural retinol”?
Not quite. You’ll often hear it described that way, but Bakuchiol isn’t retinol. We prefer to describe it as a plant-derived alternative to retinol.
What does Squalane do?
Squalane helps moisturise and condition the skin, leaving it feeling beautifully soft, comfortable and nourished.
Why is Japanese Camellia Oil included?
Camellia Oil helps give the skin that lovely silky, velvety-soft feel.
What does Argan Oil do?
Argan Oil is beautifully nourishing and helps keep skin feeling soft and supple.
What does Blackcurrant Seed Oil do?
Blackcurrant Seed Oil forms part of our nourishing botanical oil blend and is naturally rich in antioxidants.
Does it contain Jojoba and Baobab Oils?
Yes. Jojoba Seed Oil and Baobab Seed Oil are both included as part of the botanical oil blend.
Why is Hyaluronic Acid included in an oil?
Because hydration and nourishment aren’t quite the same thing. Our formula includes Sodium Hyaluronate, a form of Hyaluronic Acid, to help maintain hydration and comfort alongside the nourishing oils.
Does it contain real rose buds?
Yes 🌹 The formula contains real Rosa Centifolia flower. The rose buds have been carefully dehydrated and stabilised for use within the formula.
Are the rose buds what make the oil work?
No. The skincare benefits come from the formula itself — including Bakuchiol, Squalane and the botanical oil blend. The rose buds add a beautiful visual and sensorial element to the experience.
Is it fragranced?
Yes, it does contain fragrance. The scent is soft and botanical in character rather than traditionally perfume-like — think botanical rather than a strong perfumed fragrance.
Will it help my skin look more radiant?
The formula has been created to leave skin looking smoother, nourished and more radiant.
Will it help with fine lines?
It is designed to support smoother, more supple and well-conditioned skin, which can help soften the appearance of fine lines.
What is the full ingredient list?
Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Squalane, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Rosa Centifolia Flower, Isoamyl Laurate, Bakuchiol, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dicaprylyl Ether, Glucomannan, Tocopherol, Trihydroxystearin, Parfum (Fragrance), Hexamethylindanopyran, Tetramethyl Acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, Vanillin.
2. Who Is It Suitable For?
What skin types is it suitable for?
It has been created for a broad range of adult skin types. How much you use is important — drier skin may enjoy a little more, while combination or oilier skin may prefer a smaller amount.
Is it good for dry skin?
Absolutely. Dry, tight or depleted-feeling skin may particularly enjoy the additional nourishment of an overnight facial oil.
What if my skin is extremely dry?
If your skin is extremely dry, one product alone may not be enough. Think of skincare as a routine rather than a quick fix: gentle cleansing, hydration, moisturiser where needed, your Overnight Recovery Complex Oil at night and daily SPF all work together.
With very dry skin, give your routine time and be consistent.
Will it fix extremely dry skin overnight?
Your skin may feel softer and more nourished after using it, but very dry skin usually needs consistent care over time rather than a one-night fix. A regular routine will always give your skin a better chance to improve in condition.
Can oily skin use it?
Yes. Start with a small amount and see how your skin responds rather than assuming oily skin needs to avoid facial oils completely.
What about combination skin?
Yes. Use a smaller amount overall, or concentrate a little more product on the areas that tend to feel dry.
Is it suitable for mature skin?
Absolutely. It’s particularly lovely for adult skin that is feeling drier, less supple or simply needs a little more nourishment.
Can I use it during perimenopause or menopause?
Yes. Skin can change significantly during these stages, particularly when it comes to dryness and comfort, so a nourishing nighttime oil can be a lovely addition to your routine.
What age is it suitable for?
We’ve created the Overnight Recovery Complex Oil for adult skin and would generally recommend it from your 20s onwards. Younger skin simply doesn’t need an active nighttime treatment like this.
Can my young teenager use it?
We wouldn’t recommend it as part of a young teenager’s everyday routine. For younger skin, we’re big believers in keeping skincare beautifully simple — gentle cleansing, moisturiser where needed and daily SPF.
If a young person has a specific skin concern such as acne or eczema, it’s much better to get the right advice than to introduce lots of active skincare.
Can sensitive or reactive skin use it?
Sensitive skin is incredibly individual. As with any new skincare product, we always recommend patch testing first. Apply a small amount to the inner part of the arm and make sure your skin is comfortable with it before progressing to full-face use.
If your skin is particularly reactive or currently irritated, introduce any new skincare product gradually.
What if I have allergies?
If you have a known cosmetic, botanical or fragrance allergy, always check the full ingredient list before use. We recommend patch testing a small amount on the inner arm first.
If you’re unsure about a particular allergy or ingredient, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Can I use it if I’m prone to breakouts?
Breakout-prone skin varies hugely from person to person. Start with a small amount, introduce it gradually and see how your own skin responds.
If your skin is already undergoing treatment for acne, follow your dermatologist or healthcare professional’s advice first.
Can I use it while pregnant?
If you’re pregnant, we always recommend checking any active skincare product with your doctor, midwife or healthcare professional first.
Bakuchiol is not retinol and is not a Vitamin A derivative, but we always prefer to take the cautious approach during pregnancy.
Is Bakuchiol the same as the retinol I’m told to avoid during pregnancy?
No. Retinol, retinal and tretinoin are Vitamin A derivatives. Bakuchiol is not. We would still recommend checking active skincare with your healthcare professional during pregnancy.
Can I use it while breastfeeding?
If you’re breastfeeding, we recommend checking with your doctor or healthcare professional before introducing a new active skincare product.
Can I use it if I have psoriasis?
Everyone’s psoriasis is different. We recommend patch testing first. If your skin is currently sore, cracked, bleeding or experiencing an active flare, wait until it has settled and speak to your doctor or dermatologist before introducing something new.
Will it treat psoriasis?
No. The Overnight Recovery Complex Oil is a cosmetic skincare product and is not designed to treat or cure psoriasis.
Can I use it if I have eczema?
Eczema-prone skin can be particularly reactive, so we would always patch test first. If you are experiencing an active flare or your skin is broken or inflamed, keep your routine simple and check with your doctor or dermatologist.
Can I use it if I have rosacea?
Rosacea can vary enormously from person to person, so we wouldn’t make a blanket recommendation. Patch test first and, if your rosacea is active or being medically treated, check with your dermatologist.
Can I use it if my skin barrier feels damaged?
If your skin simply feels a little dry or tight, you may really enjoy the nourishing feel of the oil. If your skin is sore, cracked, very inflamed or reacting strongly, give it time to settle before introducing something new.
3. How To Apply & Get The Best From It
How do I use the Overnight Recovery Complex Oil?
At night, apply to freshly cleansed skin. Warm the oil between your fingertips or palms, then gently press and massage it over your face, neck and décolletage using upward motions.
How much you need will depend on your skin, your face size, how far you take it down the neck and décolletage, and whether you’re using it alone or as part of your full skincare routine.
How much should I use?
There isn’t one exact amount that will suit everyone.
If you’re using it alongside your normal skincare routine, around 2–6 drops will usually be enough.
If you’re using it on its own, you may prefer a more generous amount — potentially up to a full dropper, particularly if you’re taking it down over the neck, décolletage and upper chest.
How do I know if I’m using the right amount?
Your skin will tell you. You want enough for the skin to feel soft, comfortable and nourished, rather than leaving a very heavy layer sitting on the surface.
If you’re layering it over other skincare, 2–6 drops may be plenty. If you’re using it alone or covering your neck and décolletage too, you may need more.
Where does it fit into my nighttime routine?
Use it as the final nourishing step in your evening routine:
CLEANSE → SERUMS/TREATMENTS → MOISTURISER → OVERNIGHT RECOVERY COMPLEX OIL
Apply your usual skincare first, then finish with the oil to leave your skin feeling soft, comfortable and beautifully nourished overnight.
Can I use it on its own?
Absolutely. Apply it to freshly cleansed skin and use enough to comfortably cover your face, neck and décolletage.
When you’re using it as your only nighttime treatment, you may prefer a more generous amount — even up to a full dropper depending on the area you’re covering and what feels right for your skin.
What if I’m using it with my normal skincare?
Use your usual skincare first, then finish with the Overnight Recovery Complex Oil. For most people, 2–6 drops will be enough when it’s being layered over serums and moisturiser.
Do I have to use moisturiser too?
No. Some skin types will find the oil is enough on its own.
If your skin is very dry, use your hydrating skincare and moisturiser first, then finish with the oil.
Does the oil go before or after moisturiser?
We love it as the final nourishing step after moisturiser.
Can I mix it into my moisturiser?
Yes. Mix a few drops into your nighttime moisturiser if that’s how you prefer to use them together.
Should my skin be wet or dry?
Freshly cleansed, slightly damp skin is lovely. You can also apply it after your usual water-based skincare products.
Can I use it every night?
Yes, if your skin is happy with it. If you have sensitive skin or you’re introducing several new active products, start gradually.
Can I use it in the morning?
You can use a small amount if your skin feels particularly dry, but this has been created primarily as your nighttime recovery treatment. Always finish your morning routine with SPF.
Can I use it on my neck, décolletage and chest?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Don’t stop at the jawline. Massage the oil down over your neck, décolletage and towards the upper chest if you wish.
Naturally, you’ll need a little more product if you’re covering a larger area.
Can I use it around my eyes?
This hasn’t been positioned as a dedicated eye product. If bringing it near the eye area, keep to the orbital bone and avoid the eyelids, lash line and direct contact with the eyes.
Can I use it for facial massage or gua sha?
Yes. It gives lovely slip for gentle facial massage or gua sha. Avoid using it over broken, sore or inflamed skin.
What if my skin is extremely dry?
Very dry skin often needs consistent care rather than simply more of one product. Use your hydrating skincare and moisturiser first, then finish with the Overnight Recovery Complex Oil.
Give your skin time — the best results come from looking after it consistently rather than expecting one product to completely change very dry skin overnight.
How do I get the best results?
Consistency really is everything.
Good skincare isn’t about using lots of products once in a while — it’s about finding a routine that works for your skin and sticking with it.
Cleanse → Hydrate/Treat → Moisturise if needed → Overnight Recovery Complex Oil. And always SPF in the morning.
How quickly will I notice a difference?
You may notice that your skin feels softer, smoother and more nourished quite quickly. Visible improvements in overall skin condition come from consistent use over time.
Will it feel greasy?
It shouldn’t need to. The right amount is the amount that leaves your skin feeling comfortable and nourished. If it feels too rich, simply use less the following night.
4. What Can I Use It With?
Can I use retinol with it even though it contains Bakuchiol?
Potentially, yes. Bakuchiol isn’t a retinoid, so the presence of Bakuchiol doesn’t automatically mean you need to stop using retinol.
If your skin already tolerates retinol well, use your retinol according to its directions and finish with the oil.
What if I’m new to retinol?
Start gently. You could use retinol one night and your Overnight Recovery Complex Oil the following night until you know how your skin responds.
Can I use retinal with it?
Potentially, yes. Retinal is a Vitamin A derivative; Bakuchiol is not. If retinal is new to you, alternate nights initially.
Which goes first — retinol or the oil?
Use your retinol or retinal according to its own directions first, then finish your routine with the Overnight Recovery Complex Oil.
Can I alternate my retinol or retinal with the oil?
Absolutely. For example: Night 1: retinol or retinal. Night 2: Overnight Recovery Complex Oil. Simple.
Can I use it with Hyaluronic Acid?
Yes — they work beautifully together. Apply your hydrating product first and finish with the oil.
Can I use it with peptides?
Yes. Apply your peptide serum first and your oil afterwards.
Can I use it with niacinamide?
Generally, yes. Use your niacinamide first and finish with the oil.
Can I use it with Vitamin C?
Generally, yes. If you have sensitive skin or use a strong Vitamin C formula, you may prefer Vitamin C in the morning and the Overnight Recovery Complex Oil in the evening.
Can I use it with glycolic, lactic or salicylic acid?
Potentially, yes, but there’s no need to overload the skin with active ingredients. If you’re sensitive, alternate nights and introduce combinations gradually.
Can I use it with prescription tretinoin?
If your tretinoin is prescribed, your prescriber’s routine always comes first. Check with your dermatologist or prescriber before introducing another active skincare product, particularly if your skin is already dry or sensitive.
Can I use it with a medicated cream?
If a doctor has prescribed a cream or ointment, always use that exactly as directed. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before layering another active skincare product over or underneath it.
Can I use it with a steroid cream?
Follow the instructions for your prescribed treatment first. We recommend asking your doctor or pharmacist before combining it with additional active skincare.
Can I use it while taking Roaccutane/isotretinoin?
If you’re taking isotretinoin, your dermatologist’s skincare advice comes first. Skin can become particularly sensitive during treatment, so check with them before introducing this or any new active skincare product.
Can I use it after microneedling, laser or a chemical peel?
Not immediately unless your practitioner has specifically approved it. Follow your treatment aftercare instructions first.
Can I use it after dermaplaning or waxing?
Wait until your skin feels completely calm and comfortable before introducing active skincare again.
Do I need SPF the following day?
Yes. We always recommend daily SPF as the final step in your morning skincare routine.
5. About Your Rose Buds 🌹
Why do the rose buds vary from bottle to bottle?
Just like fresh flowers, no two natural rose buds are exactly the same. Some are larger, some smaller and some more tightly closed. Because they’re manually added to each bottle, a little variation in size, number and position is completely normal.
My bottle seems to have more or fewer buds than another bottle — is that normal?
Yes. Natural buds vary in size, so some bottles may appear to have more visible buds than others. This is completely normal.
Why have the buds moved around in my bottle?
Natural buds may move or settle slightly within the oil. Their position doesn’t affect how the product performs.
Can the rose buds change colour over time?
Because they are real botanical material, some natural alteration or deepening in colour may occur over time while they are immersed in the oil.
One of my rose buds looks darker than another. Is that okay?
Some natural variation between individual buds is expected. If you notice an unusual change in the oil itself — particularly its smell, texture or overall appearance — stop using it and contact us.
Do the number of buds affect how well the oil works?
No. The skincare benefits come from the formula itself, not from how many rose buds are visible in your individual bottle.
Should I remove the rose buds?
No. Leave them exactly where they are.
6. Storage, Shelf Life & Looking After Your Oil
How long can I use it once opened?
The confirmed Period After Opening is 6 months. Once you open your bottle, use it within those 6 months.
What does the little 6M symbol mean?
It means the product should be used within 6 months of first opening.
How long does it last unopened?
The confirmed shelf life is 30 months unopened, provided it has been stored correctly.
How should I store it?
Keep the bottle tightly closed, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat, and at a normal controlled room temperature.
Should I keep it in the fridge?
No. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated. A cool, dry place away from direct sunlight is perfect.
Can I keep it in my bathroom?
Yes, provided your bathroom doesn’t become excessively hot or humid. A bedside table or dressing table away from direct sunlight is lovely too.
How long will a 30ml bottle last me?
That depends on how much you use and whether you apply it only to the face or also over the neck, décolletage and upper chest. You need to use the amount that feels right for your routine, but once opened remember to use it within the 6-month PAO.
What if the rose buds change slightly while I’m using it?
A little natural variation in real botanical material can happen over time. Keep the bottle tightly closed and protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
What if the oil itself looks or smells different?
If you notice an unusual change to the oil itself — for example its smell, texture or overall appearance — stop using it and contact us.
Do I need to patch test it?
It’s always a good idea with any new skincare product, particularly if you know your skin is sensitive or reactive. Apply a small amount to the inner part of the arm first and make sure your skin is comfortable before progressing to full-face use.
