Is Bakuchiol the same as retinol?
No. Bakuchiol is not retinol, Vitamin A or a retinoid. It’s a plant-derived skincare ingredient often chosen as an alternative to retinol and is included in our Overnight Recovery Complex Oil to help support smoother-looking skin.
Can sensitive or reactive skin use it?
Sensitive skin is very individual. As with any new skincare product, we recommend patch testing first on the inner part of your arm. If your skin is particularly reactive or currently irritated, introduce it gradually.
What if I have allergies?
If you have a known cosmetic, botanical or fragrance allergy, always check the full ingredient list before use. The formula contains a blend of botanical oils as well as fragrance. Patch test on the inner arm first and, if you’re unsure about a particular ingredient or allergy, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Does the Overnight Complex Oil contain water?
It is an anhydrous (water-free), oil-based formula.
That’s one of the many interesting differences with our Overnight Recovery Complex Oil: it’s water-free, so the bottle is essentially made up of oils, emollients and actives rather than a large water phase.
Can I use it if I’m prone to breakouts?
Breakout-prone skin varies hugely from person to person. Start with a small amount, introduce it gradually and see how your own skin responds. If you’re currently undergoing treatment for acne, follow the advice of your dermatologist or healthcare professional first.
Can I use it while pregnant?
If you’re pregnant, we always recommend checking any active skincare product with your doctor, midwife or healthcare professional first. Bakuchiol is not retinol and is not a Vitamin A derivative, but we always prefer to take the cautious approach during pregnancy.
Can I use it while breastfeeding?
If you’re breastfeeding, we recommend checking with your doctor or healthcare professional before introducing a new active skincare product.
Can I use it with retinol or retinal?
Potentially, yes. Bakuchiol itself is not a retinoid. If your skin already tolerates retinol or retinal well, use it according to its own directions and use your Overnight Recovery Complex Oil as your final nourishing step. If you’re new to retinoids or your skin is sensitive, alternating nights is a simple place to start.
Can I use it with prescription tretinoin, Roaccutane/isotretinoin or medicated skincare?
Your prescribed treatment should always come first. Check with your dermatologist, doctor or pharmacist before introducing another active skincare product alongside prescription treatment.
Can I use it if I have eczema, psoriasis or rosacea?
These conditions can behave very differently from person to person. The Overnight Recovery Complex Oil is a cosmetic skincare product and isn’t intended to treat them. Patch test first and avoid introducing new active skincare to skin that is sore, broken or experiencing an active flare. If your condition is medically managed, check with your doctor or dermatologist.
Why do the rose buds vary from bottle to bottle?
Just like fresh flowers, no two natural rose buds are exactly the same. Some are larger, some smaller and some more tightly closed. Because they’re manually added to each bottle, a little variation in size, number and position is completely normal.
Do the number of rose buds affect how well the oil works?
No. The skincare benefits come from the formula itself, including Bakuchiol, Squalane and our botanical oil blend — not from how many rose buds are visible in your bottle.
Can the rose buds change colour or move in the bottle?
Yes. They’re real botanical material, so they can move, settle and naturally alter slightly in appearance while immersed in the oil. This doesn’t affect the performance of the product.
Is it fragranced?
Yes, it does contain fragrance. The scent is soft and botanical in character rather than traditionally perfume-like.
How long can I use it once opened?
The Period After Opening is 6 months, so use your Overnight Recovery Complex Oil within six months of first opening.
How should I store it?
Keep your bottle tightly closed and away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
I have nut allergies. Can I use it
The Overnight Recovery Complex does not contain peanut oil or common tree-nut oils such as almond, hazelnut, walnut or cashew. However, it does contain argan kernel oil. If you have a known or severe nut allergy, we recommend checking with your doctor/allergist before use.
General Question: What if my skin reacts to any product ?
Don’t push through irritation. If you experience persistent redness, burning, itching, swelling or discomfort, discontinue use and allow your skin to settle.
